Tension-type headaches are the common, garden-variety headache you get after sitting too long in a cramped position, straining your eyes, staying out in the sun too long, or dealing with a stubborn nuisance. Dr. Sheftell estimates that 75 percent of all headaches fall into this group and about 90 percent of the population gets one from time to time.
