WINE |
Switch to Wine. Another possibility comes from a study at Howard University Hospital in Washington, D.C., which involved 3,072 people, ages 45 to 74, with eye changes that might lead to muscular degeneration. Researchers found that those who consumed moderate amounts of wine had less chance of developing the eye disease. (Beer or liquor did not show a protective effect.)
Again, this is only one study, and the researchers certainly don't suggest that you take up drinking to protect your vision. If you currently drink, however, you may want to consider switching from beer or liquor to wine. Remember the key word "moderate" which doesn't mean several glasses a day.
