Before there could be electric power plants, electricity itself had to be discovered. No one man discovered electricity. Many men found out a little about it, during the course of more than 2,000 years, and it was only by piecing together many little facts that the full meaning was discovered.

Electricity first began to be discovered when the first man watched, in fearful admiration, the sharp tongues of lightning lick across the sky.
