| Third Week Pregnancy |
DEVELOPMENT: During the third week the ovum is covered with chorionic villi. Some of these villi are attached to the decidua, others penetrate the maternal blood vessels and are surrounded by blood. It is from this maternal blood that the chorionic villi absorb nourishment.
