| Fetal Blood |
The chorionic villus consists of the single stem which branches into smaller villi. It has an outer layer of cells, the syncytium, and an inner layer called Langhan’s cells. The centre of the villus has foetal blood vessels which unite with the blood vessels of other villi to form the umbilical vessels.
