| Normal Birth Treatment |
Treatment should be started as early as possible after birth. Diet containing very low phenylalanine with added tyrosine is recommended. Phenylalanine levels should be maintained between 6-9 mg%. Very severe restriction of phenylalanine leads to tissues breakdown. Strict restriction is recommended uptil 8th years of age. After this, the restriction may not be so rigid.
