ELECTRONICS

ELECTRONICS
The story of electronics is in general concerned with the flow of electric current, and in particular with the vacum tube, more accurately known as the "electron valve." Much of this story was written before the name "electronics" was invented. The most important discoveries and inventions in the field of electricity are dealt with in other sections of this blog: Electrical power, Lightning, Telegraph, Telephone, Radio, Radar, Television. Something of the underlying theory of the atom is covered in the Story of X-rays, and above all in the Story of Atomic Energy.

But the electron valve has opened such an extensive vista of new applications that this huge field certainly needs a convenient name, like "electronics."
