Small Meals |
Stick to small Meals. To regulate mood swings, Dixon suggests eating four to six small meals during the day instead of three large meals. Eating small meals keeps your blood sugar levels on an even keel. "A big meal of 1,000 calories or more affects mental alertness." "You feel great right after the meal and then you become sluggish 30 minutes later."
Eating small meals throughout the day also prevents the peak-and-valley feeling. When you only eat three meals a day, you run out of energy between each feeding. You're probably familiar with the 3 p.m. lull. Your body needs fuel and doesn't want to wait until dinner to get it.
