Blood Pressure in Pregnancy

Blood Pressure in Pregnancy
This tends to be unstable in pregnancy. At term the supine position may result in a fall in blood pressure and fainting. The reason is that the enlarged uterus presses on the inferior vena cava and delays the return of blood to the heart. To prevent this the pregnant women should lie on her side. A rise in blood pressure may occur following emotional upsets.
